Light Therapy

What is POLY LED Light Therapy?

POLY, short for Polychromatic Light-Emitting Diode therapy system, is the newest innovation in light therapy. POLY utilizes multiple wavelengths of light to provide a wide variety of aesthetic and wellness treatment options. POLY is a painless, relaxing, non-invasive skin-care treatment that has multiple benefits—particularly stimulating collagen, treating mild to moderate acne, and improving joint pain. POLY treatments last about 10-20 minutes and can be a stand-alone treatment or added onto another service.

How does POLY LED Light Therapy Work?

POLY treatments work by using an array of bright light-emitting diodes (LED) that send low-level light energy into the deeper layers of the skin. The POLY PRO device used at Renovus offers 3 light options.

The red LED light treatment stimulates cellular activity including fibroblasts that produce collagen, a protein that helps tighten, firm, and improve the overall appearance of the skin. Increased collagen helps minimize fine lines and wrinkles, treat sun-damage and stretch marks, and reduce redness and inflammation after more aggressive treatments.

The blue LED light treatment works to reduce the presence of mild-to-moderate acne by destroying Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria that lives below the surface of the skin and is responsible for acne.

The infrared LED light treatment penetrates deep into the hypodermis, reduces inflammation, helps manage pain, and improves joint stiffness and soreness.

A combination of red, blue and/or infrared light treatments may be combined in a single session, based on desired outcomes for the patient.

What to Expect at Renovus Medical Spa

A typical POLY treatment is around 20 minutes but may be adjusted based on patient needs. The patient will lie down, and the aesthetician will discuss the patient’s priority concerns and goals. The aesthetician will then choose the appropriate light and adjust it to the proper settings. There is no downtime after a POLY treatment, with most clients resuming regular activity immediately following the procedure. The number of treatments needed will vary depending on the condition, but POLY treatments can be applied safely after any of our other treatments, as it enhances almost every other treatment that we offer at Renovus.
