What is an Infrared Sauna?
Infrared saunas are an effective tool for natural healing and prevention. Infrared light has the ability to penetrate human tissue which in turn produces a host of health benefits. The infrared waves induce significant sweating, which is the body’s safe and natural way to heal and stay healthy. Infrared saunas promote:
- Weight loss
- Pain relief
- Lowers blood pressure
- Increased circulation
- Wound healing
How Does an Infrared Sauna Work?
Detoxification happens by heating the body directly, causing a rise in core temperature. This results in a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where toxins reside. Detoxification is important because it strengthens the body’s immune system and helps the body’s biochemical processes function efficiently so that we are better able to digest the nutrients in our foods.
While in the sauna, the body has to struggle to maintain its preferred temperature, which increases metabolism. Because the intense heat causes the body to sweat, weight loss from water retention will occur.
Infrared sauna heat penetrates tissue, joints and muscles to relieve anything from minor aches and pains to chronic pain conditions. Far infrared wavelengths like those produced by a sauna target deeper tissues, removing toxins that can have a negative impact on your skin and overall wellness.
What to Expect at Renovus Medical Spa
Patients should call at least 30 minutes ahead of their sauna treatment, so our staff can ensure the sauna facility is prewarmed for their treatment. Our staff will also ensure each patient has clean towels, a robe or wrap, as well as a cool bottle of water ready and waiting for them upon arrival.
Sauna patients are free to use our spa shower facilities. Renovus provides all the necessities needed to freshen up before returning to your day.
Most patients report a feeling of well-being and rejuvenation following a sauna visit. The face or skin may be flushed and should resolved with an hour or two. Maintaining adequate hydration is important on the day of the visit since a significant amount of sweating is often experienced. This treatment can be repeated several times a week.
